You run when you are late. You run when you after someone. You run when you simply want to. So what’s the difference when you can run anytime?

TO START, Running itself is different. Some would say, running is more than a sport, it is an experience, an opportunity, a way for you to commune in silence with yourself, while you move in continuous motion. While there will be some who would stress that running is the best way to stay fit when you focus on the benefits.

More than a sport, running is a generous giver of benefits for both psychological and physical growth. Whether you are a runner running for the reason of passion or simply running to stay fit, know that running will give you both.

Reap the physical benefits:

Goodbye fats, hello toned muscles – Moving in continuous motion allows your muscle tissues to develop muscles and replace the fat-coated ones. This way, continuous repetition of the exercise strengthens the muscles and tones them.

Lesser risk of getting the big O – Osteoporosis - Weakness in bone structure makes bones become more hollow and brittle which is susceptible to damage when you take a fall. Running needs great use of bones while moving, this keeps them in good working order and thus lessens the risk of getting the big- O. Remember, the more you exercise it, the stronger your bones will be.

Tougher, better Cardio –
Do you notice that you pant when you run? That is because your heart pumps more blood to circulate in your system. You pant because of lack of capillaries (blood vessels that supply blood to your lungs to keep them working) in the system. Running regularly develops more capillary release and thus improves your respiratory system over time. Which is also the reason why some runners aren’t equipped yet to run a mile on their first time. Their cardio activity need to adjust to the capability of their heart. Running as a routine improves your cardio.

Leaves aging behind –Apart from our daily routine of sitting in front of the computer, our body tends to weaken and thus speeds up the aging process. Thanks to stress, it adds up like an age-fast frenzy. That is why, some officeanados look older than they really are. Running has been proven to promote human growth hormones to our body; growth hormones that celebrities buy just to stay young.

Fights aging, fights sickness - taking a few sprints lets you maintain good cholesterol level which reduces the risk of blood clots. Because we all know that blood clot is equals to heart attack or stroke. Running boosts your immune system and produces lymphocytes. Lymphocytes are body guards (white blood cells) that protect your body from disease.

Now, reap the psychological benefits:

Boosts your immune system, Boosts your self esteem - Serious runners do not run without a goal. Whether that goal is to run 5 meters from starting point or to run a mile on a marathon, a runner improves his self esteem whenever he reaches a goal. You see, a runner’s goal may vary, but no matter what the goal is, fulfilling it boosts a runners self confidence.

Your stress-relieving buddy – Whether you are escaping a problem or using the time to run to think for a while, running helps you release stress that your body experiences. Tension flies when you run a mile and really, it is taken as one of the best time to unwind or think about problems before you pin down the answer. When you are angry, speed runs are great for releasing them. Put all your emotions into your sprint (just look if there are cars though, or you are not running on a cliff) and you’ll feel better in no time.

Improve not just your body but your attitude – When a runner is in union with oneself, he releases endorphins which can cause euphoria (runners high) or a regular source of happiness. For the past years, running has been used to treat depression, tension or fatigue. Running gives a sense of focus to these individuals by allowing them to divert their feelings besides their state of depression or addiction.

Train your mind, train your body – A runner encounters his own obstacle, may it be a mile that he can’t finish or a marathon that he can’t complete, a true runner never stops trying no matter what. This drives him to gain focus and determination; focus and determination that will fuel him to discover his innate power to overcome every obstacle.

TO FINISH, there are so many reasons why you should run but know deep within you what your real reasons are. These reasons will equip you to fully analyze your goals and fulfil them.
